The Society of Petroleum Engineers Calgary Section is pleased to invite you to an exciting opportunity to visit the applied research facilities at SAIT's Imperial Energy Innovation Centre home to Quarry Park Energy Solutions and Applied Research and Innovation Services (ARIS).
As a leader in applied education and research, SAIT provides state-of-the-art facilities dedicated to advancing energy technologies. This exclusive tour offers a unique chance to explore cutting-edge technologies, gain insights into advanced laboratory techniques, and witness innovation in action.
Tour Agenda:
- 9:30 AM – Arrival at SAIT Imperial Energy Innovation Centre - 9223 23 Street SE
- 9:35 AM – Welcome, introductions, and a brief safety overview
- 9:45 AM – Presentation: Introducing Quarry Park Energy Solutions, its applied research capabilities, and industry partnerships
- 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM – Comprehensive Facility Tour:
- Exploring the Enhanced Oil Recovery Lab (physical reservoir models),
- Once-Through Steam Generation Lab (pilot-scale research) part of ARIS,
- PVT Analysis (hydrocarbon fluid behaviour),
- Special Core Analysis (rock-fluid interactions),
- Corrosion and Deformation Facility (extraction equipment integrity),
- EOR testing on real oil sand,
- Batch Extraction Unit (oil sands ore testing),
- and Tailings and Polymer Performance Research (polymer screening and dewatering)
- 12:30 PM – 1:15 PM – Networking Lunch, discussion with subject matter experts, questions, and closing remarks
- 1:15 PM – Tour Concludes

- Photography inside the lab facility is strictly prohibited.
- A maximum of 50 participants can be accommodated in total
- All attendees are required to wear sturdy closed-toe shoes (e.g., running or hiking shoes) and wear long-sleeved shirts and pants.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own safety glasses (prescription glasses are also acceptable). Safety glasses will be provided on-site if needed.
- Transportation is not included; attendees are responsible for arranging their own travel to the site. Carpooling is encouraged.
- Both on-site and street parking are available at the venue.
