Important Notes:
Photography: Taking video/photographs at the Calgary Food Bank is prohibited unless permission has been granted. Should you wish to take photographs, please ensure you speak to the Calgary Food Bank staff member who is supervising your shift prior to taking photographs.
Safety: The Calgary Food Bank is an industrial warehouse, and we are committed to take every reasonable precaution to protect the health and safety of everyone on site. As part of this commitment, all volunteers are required to complete online Health and Safety training course. The course must be complete prior to your volunteer shift and takes approximately 25 minutes to complete. Instructions for the course will share to your email after registration.
Parking: Please do not park on the West side of the Calgary Food Bank main warehouse building (5000 11th St SE). This parking area is used for our trucks to maneuver into the loading dock area.
Day Shift Parking: You will be provided with a map for the volunteer parking lot location. Once you have parked, you will use our convenient Volunteer Shuttle to take you to the warehouse. The shuttle van will pick you up at the Volunteer Parking lot (between 7:15am and 5:15pm) and drop you off at the main warehouse. It will also bring you back to your vehicle after your shift. If the shuttle is not in the lot when you arrive don’t worry, the driver is completing a round and will be with you soon
Dressing code: Come dressed in casual, comfortable clothing that can get dirty. Your group will be volunteering in the warehouse.
Cell phone use is prohibited in the warehouse. To keep you safe, we need your undivided attention. 
Wear gloves and slow down in your tasks to decrease the risk of laceration. Disposable gloves are provided.
Always announce yourself to our forklift drivers and do not proceed until they have acknowledged you. 
Footwear requirements: please ensure you are wearing closed-toed shoes.
Gloves are recommended when working to avoid injury.
Vests (provided by the Calgary Food Bank) must be worn when in the warehouse and Distribution area for identification and safety purposes. 
Water: Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water bottles! The Calgary Food Bank has water coolers onsite to refill your bottles.
