Oliver DesCoteaux Scholarship
Oliver DesCoteaux was a young professional who graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree from the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary in 2014. Oliver was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer in 2015, and succumbed to the disease on March 15, 2016. In honour of Oliver, the Oliver DesCoteaux Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who best demonstrates the characteristics Oliver was known for, teamwork.
The scholarship recipient will be an engineering student (any program) at the University of Calgary who enhances the “teamwork or team learning” aspect of engineering education and has shown through their actions a desire to selflessly serve and support their peers. You can nominate your peer by submitting the a nomination form including a short essay (maximum 350 words) outlining why this person is deserving of the award. One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $4,000. Applications open in January 2022.
SPE Canadian Education Foundation Scholarship
The Society of Petroleum Engineers Canadian Educational Foundation (SPECEF) will award several scholarships to students pursuing a degree or diploma with intentions to enter the Energy Industry upon graduation. These scholarships are open to students studying at all institutions in Canada. SPECEF will be awarding multiple scholarships to highly qualified students.
The scholarships, CAD $3,500 - $5,500 each, are open to students studying at all institutions in Canada. All applicants must be SPE Members (free for students) and Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
This year's deadline for applications is January 15, 2022.
